These beautiful, one-of-a-kind ornaments are hand-carved from dried gourds or jícaras, the fruit of the calabash tree. Each design is inspired by the flora and fauna around Oaxaca, Mexico, where they are made.
Ornament diameter is approx. 3 - 3.5 in, but ornaments may be larger or smaller depending on natural variance of the gourds used. Hanging cord is approx. 1 in long. Please note that all designs are completely unique and won’t be the same as those pictured. Flora and fauna motifs may differ and colors are approximate. Rest assured, these ornaments are a staff and customer favorite and every design is wonderful. Contact us if you would like to see what is currently available; otherwise, we will choose for you.
SandyMar workshop is located in Pinotepa de Don Luis, Oaxaca and was formed over a decade ago when owners Marcos Perez and Sandra Garcia married. Marcos learned to work with the fruit of the “Jicaro” tree when he was a teenager. Their designs reflect the region where they live, and they hand carve while sitting on their patio and listening to the chirping birds and seeing the rabbits playing around. All reflected in their designs.
