These traditional, hand-dyed cotton cloths are beautiful, versatile, and endlessly useful! The fabric becomes softer as you use and wash it repeatedly. The raw, unfinished edge is traditional and will only fray slightly. Most consider this an attractive feature.
KAMAWANU was established in 1990 and is based in Tokyo, Japan. They use the traditional chusen method of dyeing, a technique where the dye is absorbed into the fabric so you can see the pattern on both sides, making the cloth reversible. This technique is a manual and highly skilled process, handled by craftspeople with many years of experience.
IDEAS FOR USE:
- handkerchief
- bandana / scarf / headband
- hand, face, or dish towel
- napkins (cut in half to make two!)
- table runner / place mat
- wrapping cloth for gifts
- fabric for sewing projects (great for face masks!)
- wall hanging
- ...and more!
