Nerikomi is an ancient Japanese clay technique that involves layering different colored clays and slicing through their cross section to create patterns. These patterned clay slices can then be inlayed onto clay slabs or forms. Anais Franco of studio sachi uses this method to create images of arresting beauty on plate forms; somewhere between the abstract and the figurative.

This series depicts undulating, amorphous link shapes in multiple colors. Each plate measures approx. 9.5" in diameter.
