Carving Kit - Spoon

A great introduction to woodworking, this Japanese spoon carving kit can easily be completed in an afternoon, thanks to the prepared carving blank that minimizes excess material. Making your own spoon will not only make meal time more special, but the warmth of the handmade utensil will make it taste even more delicious.

The kit contains a roughly carved hinoki wood blank, three grades of sandpaper, and beeswax and cloth for finishing and polishing. Basic instructions in English and Japanese are included on the strikingly graphic white paper wrapper.

Carving knives are not included and are available separately - or use any standard penknife. We recommend washing and drying wooden utensils immediately after use, and refinishing carved pieces periodically with fresh beeswax or oil.
