Carving Kit - Swallow Art

Make your own original art object using this fun carving kit from Japan! Carve and paint a decorative wooden swallow that can be displayed on a stand - the perfect objet d'art for the eclectic, craft-oriented, midcentury, or Scandinavian-styled home.

The kit contains a roughly carved soft cedar wood blank, three grades of sandpaper, wire, a pre-drilled wooden display stand (which can also be carved), and black acrylic gouache so that you can paint the finished piece if desired. Basic instructions in English and Japanese are included on the strikingly graphic white paper wrapper.

Carving knives are not included and are available separately - or use any standard penknife. We recommend refinishing carved pieces periodically with fresh beeswax.

Please note that kit contains only one swallow, the smaller version pictured. Swallow blank measures approx. 13 x 5.5cm.
