Welcome to the world of Cuban hummingbirds! who mainly consist of two native species: the tiny, endemic Bee Hummingbird, the world's smallest bird at just over 2 inches, and the larger, more common Cuban Emerald, which these earrings are named after.
They are known locally as zunzúndue to the buzzing noise produced by their wings, and the females build small, cup-shaped nests using spiderwebs, bark, and lichen.
Sure to draw attention when you wear them, now you have more information to share when you receive, and surely you will, dozens of compliments!
Earrings measure 3.75" long x 1.5" wide.
Materials: cotton, felt, metal, sequins & beads; all hand embroidered.
Slight variation in embroidery, size, shape, and color is part of the handmade craft and may be apparent between pieces; this is not considered a defect but is celebrated as a mark of being made by hand.
