Friends Greeting Card

This painting depicts two friends on a blanket. Two seated women who seem almost too big for the canvas fill the entire scene. One of them has a dove, the bird of peace, on her finger. Meanwhile, her friend contemplates the complexity of life.

Everaldo Montose is from Mozambique, born in 1981. He moved to South Africa as a young man to pursue his dream of being an artist. The repetition of patterns in his work is a reflection of the memories of his journey as someone who is living in a new country. An artist who loves texture, he often makes the canvas rough with patterns before starting a new work. For him, the textures symbolize the rough and smooth in life. 

Showcasing the works of local artists, each month a different artist is paid to paint a 3.9' x 3.9' wall panel or sculpture, which is displayed on the wall outside the Woza Moya, Hillcrest Shop. Woza Moya assists the artist by marketing their work for the entire month. A greeting card is made of the painted wall panel and sold through Until There's A Cure and the Hillcrest Shop so that artists may earn an ongoing passive income from their work.

The Woza Moya is the economic empowerment project of the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust.

Proceeds support Hillcrest AIDS Foundation health care services for persons living with HIV/AIDS in Africa.

By partnering with groups around the globe, Until There's A Cure is supporting AIDS care, prevention, education, and vaccine research and development.
