Furoshiki - Asanoha Yellow
Introducing furoshiki - the original eco-conscious, reusable cloth with many uses. Used for more than 1,000 years to wrap valuables and gifts in Japan, any square piece of cloth can be used as furoshiki - but we particularly enjoy sourcing and using decorative cloths with a nice hemmed edge like the one here.
How to give a gift is just as important as choosing the right one. By wrapping an object, you are handling it with care and showing respect to the receiver. To make it memorable, the Japanese have a culture of wrapping gifts and souvenirs in furoshiki using special wrapping and tying techniques. We include basic wrapping instructions with each purchase, and recommend the book Furoshiki for even more ideas.
Wrapping a gift in a furoshiki not only makes for a special presentation - it also doubles as part of the present! Furoshiki can be used again and again, not only to wrap items, but as bags, scarves, wall hangings, handkerchiefs, bandanas, napkins, table settings - and more.
This 100% cotton furoshiki features a yellow and gray deconstructed asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern. It measures 70cm / 27.6 inches square. This is the most widely used size and can be used for wrapping lunchboxes, gift boxes, or a single wine bottle.
Made in Japan.
