Hollow Wooden Eggs

The egg is such a delightful shape in nature, and these opens up!

Our Shop has been renamed its original 1965 name, The Egg and The Eye, so we have eggs all over the place! These are hollow, split in two, which you can decorate, paint, stain, draw, woodburn, or just leave in their natural wood form.

Being hollow, there is enough room to hide a surprise inside of each wooden egg. Eggs are made from top quality linden wood, unpainted blanks are hand carved in Polkhovski Maidan, the biggest centre of nesting doll production in Russia. The eggs have a flattened bottom so they are self-standing.

Note: real wood has imperfections, including but not limited to; discolorations, knots, holes and dry spots. While we strive to pick the best, blemish free linden wood for the blank products, imperfections will occur. In the case of knots, dents or holes the vendor may use wood putty to fill these areas. This creates a smooth surface for decorating.

We are carrying these eggs in three sizes:

• Chicken Egg - measures 2.75" tall (outer diameter is 2 1/8", inner diameter 1.5"), weight: 0.8 oz (22.68 g).
• Goose Egg - measures 2.25" x 3.5"
• Nesting Egg - has three eggs nested together. The smallest egg is solid, not hollow. The outer and middle egg split in two and all of them can nest together, or you can have them as singles. The unpainted largest egg stands just over 4" tall. Open it up and you find two more eggs inside, one 3" tall and the smallest just 2". Weight: 4 oz (113.4 g).
