Edited by Maureen Moore

Uniting eleven voices and spanning multiple geographies, this collection documents the everyday experience of mothers living through the first global pandemic of the 21st century. Their stories, essays, and poems capture the intimacy of a mom’s daily rhythms while caring for her children. Uplifting the mundane, celebrating the victories, and acknowledging the immensity of the task at hand, there is a kaleidoscope of experience in these works. From humor to hope, exhaustion to exuberance, fellow moms will find solace in these words; non-mothers will experience a piece of the motherload. Cover art and original illustrations by artist Carolyn Castaño, whose exhibition, Cumanday - Beautiful Mountain, is currently on view at Craft Contemporary.

Contributors include: Andreea Bonea, L.L. Faer, Xóchitl M. Flores-Marcial, Anne Walls Gordon, Jean Grant, Stephanie Kim, Maureen Moore, Nadra Ostrom, Viktoria Saxby, Anna Tugnoli, and Lauren Whaley.

Editor Maureen Moore is a former curator of the Los Angeles Public Library’s author conversation series. She is in the company of many talented and generous mom friends who contributed to making this book possible.
