These Oaxacan Day of the Dead Candles are so beautiful, you'll want to use them every day! Despite their origin of use, for the Day of the Dead, we believe that nothing will happen to you if you use them on any other day of the year.

Some history: the floral candles from Oaxaca are an essential element of the ofrenda, or altar, created to honor deceased relatives during the annual Día de los Muertos celebration on November 1st each year. The candles serve as a beacon of light and remembrance, guiding spirits back to the world of the living for a visit. A guiding light: The most crucial symbolic purpose of the candles is to illuminate the path for the returning souls. The flame represents the element of fire and a beacon of hope and faith for the journey.

Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a cultural holiday widely celebrated by people in Mexico and across other Latin American countries, such a Guatemala, Belize, Ecuador, Bolivia, and parts of the Andean region of South America. It's also observed by people of Latin American heritage in other parts of the world, including the United States and even as far as the Philippines. The celebration is a fusion of ancient indigenous traditions, particularly from Mexico, with Catholic traditions brought by the Spanish to these regions.
